Freshly prepared seasonal menus that use the very best Yorkshire produce
Whether it’s lunch, dinner or Sunday lunch, our menus reflect the extraordinary landscapes that surround us. Our ingredients are farmed, fished and grown as locally as possible – and we work with a variety of excellent producers, including wild game suppliers.
The ever-changing seasons help shape our menus and our team of top-class chefs create a dining experience you can savour. Relax in our real ale bar with a roaring log fire and cosy atmosphere. In here, large sweeping settles and sturdy oak tables provide an English pub setting for you to sit back and unwind. Our main restaurant provides a more formal setting and we also have the snug and other rooms which can be used for private hire and shoot parties.
We’ve been lucky enough to win the Dining Pub of the Year Award three times. The Blue Lion is renowned for its extensive wine list, as well as real ales from the local Black Sheep Brewery in nearby Masham and Theakston Brewery, also in Masham.

Our seasonal A La Carte menu has been carefully crafted by our head chef using the very best Yorkshire ingredients. Dishes include our famous twice-baked Wensleydale cheese soufflé with a chive cream sauce; roast grouse with all the trimmings; and glazed pork belly, black pudding, apple, charred hispi cabbage and pickled mustard seeds.

At The Blue Lion we’re famed for our Sunday Lunch menu. Guests can enjoy roast 28-day matured sirloin of Yorkshire beef with Yorkshire pudding; roast salt-aged pork loin with homemade apple sauce and Yorkshire pudding; roast chicken leg served with bread sauce; smoked haddock and vegetarian options.

We take our wine seriously at The Blue Lion, and have an extensive wine list for our guests to choose from. From Spanish, French, New Zealand whites to South African, Italian and Argentinian reds, our wines have been carefully curated for you. We also feature a variety of rose, Champagne and sparkling, as well as dessert wines, ports and Magnum bottles of selected wines.
